What’s step one when you’re off-duty to get glowy skin?

Bronzers! I wear so little makeup when I’m not on stage. There’s a Covergirl Bronzer three-in-one called Clean Glow Bronzer that I use. Then it’s just mascara and brows.

So would you say that’s your typical beauty ritual?

It really depends! When I’m at home, I’m a lot more plebeian. I love the summer and I love a little bit of Vitamin D. But when I’m on stage, it’s all about creating a character and being an exaggerated version of myself.

You create on-stage personas better than anyone in the business. What are a few of your favorites?

I feel like the world is my playing field and I especially love pulling from all sorts of different eras. Typically, I’ve always connected with a vintage pinup girl, but lately I’ve leaned more toward a tumbler rat or alternative grunge girl.

But that’s the magic of makeup! You can transform yourself depending on your mood.

Oh yeah, it’s like highlighting what you already have.

Speaking of magic, what’s the connection with it in your new fragrance Mad Potion?

Perfume to me is like a potion and can be very enchanting. Scents create these incredible memories. Think about it: Sometimes you’ll walk past someone in a hallway who is wearing a fragrance you used to spray when you were a teen. It transports you back to that time. I love that scents are so powerful!

Do you connect with any of the notes in this fragrance?

Yes! I have worn vanilla since I was a teenager and it’s always been so alluring — especially to the opposite sex. As I got older my tastes kind of changed and I wanted something a little bit more androgynous, which pushed me more towards musks. The combination of those two made me feel like I’m wearing something that’s both. So I could attract anything or anyone — everything is fluid.

Even in your beauty regimen! There are so many products out now that we want to work double duty. Do you use any in unintended ways?

I feel like you can take any lipstick and make it a blush. I use it like finger paint and you can put it on your eyes, too. When you’re using less of a matte and more of a cream lipstick, it moves better and gives you a gloss.

Do you have a face-washing routine after that?

I never sleep with my makeup on unless I’m, like, spending the night over at a guy’s house. Then I wake up an hour early to get that natch look! No, not anymore. I used to do that a lot when I was younger. Now I’m like, what you see is what you get. To wash my face I use Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil and have for several years now. I used to be deathly afraid of putting oil on my face but it really pulls out the dirt from my skin.

Quick! You snag a nail on the go. How do you fix it?

Actually, I was looking for a nail file the other day and I didn’t have one so I just used a matchbook. Weird little tricks!

Singer Katy Perry and Jeremy Scott will put their handprints in cement in the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX Tuesday night just before the premiere of a documentary on the fashion designer.

The ceremony will be the first in a series in the forecourt “paying homage to not only filmmakers, but to those whose contributions to all forms of pop culture make their achievements worth noting,” according to a theatre official.

“Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer” follows the ascent of Scott from a small town in Missouri to becoming creative director of the Italian fashion house Moschino.

Perry is among the celebrities interviewed for the documentary, along with Miley Cyrus and Paris Hilton. It will be released Sept. 18.

“I’d wear my Adidas black and white tracksuit,” she tells us. “It’s the one thing I wear consistently and always have in my suitcase. I look like Elton John’s sister in it but it’s my go-to suit. It’s kind of like my armour because I don’t get stopped in it and that gives me space to grow as an artist.”

When it comes to her famously high fashion wardrobe, the I Kissed A Girl hitmaker revealed there’s one city she always turns to for her effortlessly cool outfits.

“I’d go shopping in London,” she admitted. “I love Liberty so much because it feels like you’re in the quintessentially English place. And I love Dover Street Market for their presentation and they have lots of cool young stuff like Moschino and Versace at Brown’s. There’s a section in the one that’s by Claridge’s that’s a little crazy and very pop.”

The singer, who is celebrating the launch of her latest fragrance Mad Potion, also opened up about her favourite beauty treatments and revealed what she does every morning to prepare for the day – check out the full interview in the latest issue of HELLO! Fashion Monthly, out now!

The 31-year-old presenter thinks the ‘Roar’ hitmaker – who was a guest judge on the show in 2010 – is the perfect example of a dedicated pop star so would love her to join him at the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition to select his live finalists.

He said: ”I really want Katy Perry to do it. I think she’d be great because she’s really fun and has a full-on star persona.

”She works all the time and never complains about being tired and that’s important. You feel like she really wants it.

”She has the right attitude if you want to be a pop star and doesn’t do the whole diva thing.”

Katy Perry, Teenage Dream – No. 185 — The pop diva’s second Capitol Records album, Teenage Dream, floats past the 3 million U.S. sales mark, according to Nielsen Music. The former No. 1 album sold another 1,000 copies in the week ending Aug. 13, bringing its overall total to just over 3 million sold. The set was released in 2010, debuted atop the chart, and has spent 224 weeks (and counting) on the list. It spawned five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, equaling the record set by Michael Jackson’s Bad for the most No. 1 Hot 100 hits from one album.

Perry’s debut for Capitol, One of the Boys, has sold 1.69 million since its release in 2008. Her most recent set, 2013’s Prism, has moved 1.65 million.
